EKG TECHNICIAN PROGRAM
PROGRAM OBJECTIVE
Upon completion of the program, graduates will qualify for employment as health care support workers. In entry-level positions as EKG Technicians in hospitals, diagnostic labs, clinics, outpatient centers and other medical facilities.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The EKG Technicians students must complete the Heath Science Core in conjunction with the EKG Technician Program. If the student already has completed the Health Science Core Module or has been graduated from other health program with a passing grade is not required to repeat the Health Science Core Module.
The EKG Technician Program is designed to prepare the student with the skills and knowledge to perform the duties of an EKG technician with a high quality of care.
The electrocardiogram test that records and monitor electrical impulses transmitted by the heart, effectively use the EKG equipment, administer diagnostic cardiac test to patients who may have cardiac problems, such as basic EKG, 12 lead EKGs, Holter Monitoring and Stress Test (treadmill).
The students also learn as part of the program the relevant aspects of the cardiovascular system and main concepts of wellness and diseases, communication skills, law and ethics, universal precautions, infection control, OSHA guidelines for EKG technicians and the application of new technologies to the healthcare setting related to the cardiovascular field.
Diploma: Upon completion of the program, the student will receive a Diploma certificate.
Employment Disclosure: Graduate students of this program may start working as an EKG Technician as soon as the diploma is received.
MEDICAL ASSISTANT PROGRAM
PROGRAM OBJECTIVE
Upon completion of the Medical Assistant program, graduates will possess the skills and hands on experience to become entry level Medical Assistants, working in all aspects of the medical office.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Medical Assistant program is designed to train students in all of the relevant aspects of medical office management including reception, booking appointments, records management, informatics, insurance billing, preparing patients for physical examinations, and minor surgeries, performing specialized medical tests including urinalysis, and collecting biological specimens, phlebotomy, EKG, limited X Rays, and processing and recording pharmacological data. Graduates of this program will be prepared and possess the skills and hands on experience to work at the entry level in medical offices, clinics and various medical practices.
This program is offered in two modalities for the convenience of students: onsite and hybrid.
Onsite Modality: Students receive all instruction at the school’s campus.
Hybrid Modality:
Students enrolling in the hybrid modality will complete online work weekly and attend classes on-campus three days a week. Online weekly work consists of assigned theory instruction and activities for the week to be completed through the learning platform. On-campus weekly activities include theory review and laboratory hands—on practice depending on the courses taught each week.
Heritage Educational Services online learning is provided on an asynchronous modality, which means students have the flexibility to complete the online assignments in a self-paced manner as long as they are submitted by the weekly submission deadline. With this modality, students complete their work and connect with instructors and peers on their own schedule. Asynchronous learning gives an opportunity to working students to study without while attending to their employment responsibilities.
Diploma: Upon completion of the program, the student will receive a Diploma certificate.
Employment Disclosure: Graduate students of this program may start working as an MEDICAL ASSISTANT as soon as the diploma is received.
PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN PROGRAM
PROGRAM OBJECTIVE
The Patient Care Technician program prepares students with the knowledge and hands-on training required for patient care related careers. Upon successful completion of the program students are prepared to perform entry level technical and personal care skills for patients in nursing homes, hospitals, healthcare or medical facilities. This program opens doors for students to work as Nursing Assistants, Phlebotomists and EKG technicians. Graduates are eligible to challenge the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) State licensing exam, as well as to sit for Patient Care Technician national certification examinations.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The program provides 600 hours of training to students in all of the relevant areas of education and practice required for a Patient Care Technician professional. The curriculum includes education in medical terminology; anatomy and physiology; nurse assisting; occupational therapy; radiology; respiratory and geriatric skills; advanced home health aide needs; HIV/AIDS; blood borne pathogens; OSHA; CPR and First Aid training. The program provides 174 hours of laboratory practice where the students gain the required proficiency in the skills necessary for this profession. Students participate at a clinical externship in a medical office for 80 hours and demonstrate their nursing assisting skills in a 40-hour clinical practice at a nursing home or long-term care facility. After completion students are prepared to challenge the state examination and become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and are also eligible to sit for Patient Care Technician national certification examinations.

HHA, HOME HEALTH AIDE
PROGRAM OBJECTIVE
Upon completion of the program graduates will qualify for employment as Home Health Aides, working for Home Health Agencies approved for Medicare and Medicaid coverage.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The students of the Home Health Aide program will be prepared to perform the home health care duties and physical comfort and safety for patients, residents, and clients at their homes. The student will be prepared in the patient care procedures, principles of nutrition, care of the elderly, apply principles of infection control and assist with rehabilitative activities. Upon completion of the program, the student will receive a diploma.

PHLEBOTOMY TECHNICIAN PROGRAM
PROGRAM OBJECTIVE
Upon completion of the program, graduates will qualify for employment as health care support workers. In entry-level positions as Phlebotomy Technicians in hospitals, diagnostic labs, clinics, outpatient centers and other medical facilities
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Phlebotomy Technicians students must complete the Heath Science Core in conjunction with the Phlebotomy Technician Program. If the student already has completed the Health Science Core Module or has been graduated from other health program with a passing grade is not required to repeat the Health Science Core Module.
The Phlebotomy Technician Program is designed to prepare the student with the skills and knowledge to perform the duties of a Phlebotomist with a high quality of care. Including the blood drown techniques, using blood collection equipment properly, reagents and supplies according to the lab test to be performed, the procedures for storing and transporting the blood specimens, special blood collection procedures, safety and quality assurance.
The students also learn as part of the program the relevant aspects of the circulatory system and main concepts of wellness and diseases, communication skills, law and ethics, universal precautions, infection control, OSHA and CLIA guidelines for phlebotomy technicians and the application of new technologies to the healthcare setting related to the phlebotomy field.
Diploma: Upon completion of the program, the student will receive a Diploma certificate.
